The vinyl take-back program; start at Boozed

After the very successful introduction of the unique and completely latex-free Rewind® event carpet, with steadily increasing return volumes for 100% Rewind® recycling, we have taken the next steps in our sustainability service. Namely with the vinyl take-back program, in collaboration with our pilot partner Boozed – Experience Creators in Delft. The first ‘cubic metres’ of tex vinyl are ready for recycling, which means that JMT Floorcoverings is ready for the next important step towards sustainable stand design.

Collecting and separating vinyl

In the coming months, together with Boozed, we will continue to test the ease of use and implementation of the available tools; Collecting the material in waterproof big bags as easily as possible. Separating the different types of vinyl, with and without ‘tex’ – textile backing, is very important. The material must not get wet and one type of material is selected per big bag.

Storage in a big bag

The ratchet heads on the big bag holder ensure that the lifting loops can be easily relaxed after filling. The big bags are suitable for rolls of one metre in length, or packages of one square metre. The contents of the big bag are indicated on an interchangeable label. After filling, the waterproof liner can be buttoned up, so that the big bag can also be temporarily stored outside under a canopy, for example.

The transport of the big bags

Once the cargo is ready, a maximum of two big bags will be collected within two to three weeks by JMT Floorcoverings’ own transport. Prior to transport, the big bags are secured with a conveyor belt on a euro pallet, prepared by Boozed. A transporter can also be called in for a fee. Of course, you can always deliver it yourself in Dinteloord.

JMT Floorcoverings is very happy with this enthusiastic start of the process. The first feedback from Boozed is positive: together we are taking an important step towards sustainable stand design!
